Form

The media form of online magazine is very significant when discussing digital convergence of contemporary media: seeing the soaring rise of online media, it makes sense that magazines would also become available on multiple digital platforms. Making magazines available online engages it's intended audience in a more convenient and accessible way, and may attract new audiences, due to it being generally more available.
It is very important for today's media to have both a magazine and a website, as keeping up with these constant changes in contemporary media ultimately keeps these magazines relevant. If a magazine failed to become available on digital devices while technological advances keep on moving forward, it would effect readership, sales, and the brand as a whole.
Making the magazine available online also makes for an effective way of promotion, as promoting products via social media feeds is now common, and is significant when attracting and engaging an audience. This also means that the magazine can inform it's intended audience on new content regularly. Branding is also significant across these different digital platforms, as it makes the magazine more prominent and recognisable in it's promotion across these platforms, ultimately engaging audiences more effectively, and making the brand more known.

  1. Most magazine websites also include online-only content such as blogs, podcasts, and daily news updates that, naturally, are not available in print form. The magazine site is not just a cut and paste of the print magazine; there would be zero value in doing that.
